Anyone who has been to a spa knows the feeling it evokes. Calm, relaxation, and beautiful scents that send us away in our imaginations to the warm easiness of those lovely tropical getaways. Ah yes...I need something to tie me over until I can get back to that resort spa, right!?
Well, while we wait for our next vacation, why not bring that spa feel to our own homes?
1. Wrapping yourself up in Luxury
For a luxury feeling, wrap yourself in soft thirsty towels. Since you are not spending on your vacation, why not pay a little more on a good quality towel - it is so worth it!
I prefer to use white or cream but whatever appeals to you is fine. But it must be 100% cotton, as it's the softest and most absorbent. Check and make sure the edges are neatly folded and secured with close, secure stitching....this is a sign of good quality craftsmanship and prevents fraying and can help extend the towel's life.
Towel weight is measured in grams per square meter (GSM). Generally, the higher the weight, the denser the towel and the more absorbent and plush it will be. 300-400 GSM is considered lightweight, 400-600 GSM is medium weight, and 600-900 GSM is the heaviest. The best performers are between 500-700 GSM.
2. Taking that feeling to the next level
Want to take that luxurious feeling to the next level? Invest in a towel warmer. There are various options to choose from. Some are hung on the wall and hardwired; these usually accommodate several towels at once. Another option is a plug-in towel warmer, generally available in big box stores like Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Imagine stepping out of a hot relaxing bath and then wrapping yourself in a warm towel. Oh yeah....now your talking Luxury. Spoil yourself!
3. Spa-like accessories
Lastly, include pretty containers of bath salts and bubble baths. Put your salts in a large glass bowl with a wooden scoop to easily prepare your bath. I like putting my favourite bubble bath in a beautiful decanter, it really adds another level of Luxury, and the fresh smells from the salts waft through the air, just as if you were on vacation!
